A new roof built from the rafters up.
When a roof has been patched for years and still lets water in, the trouble is underneath: tired felt, rotten battens and fixings that have given up. A new roof deals with all of it. The old slates or tiles come off, the timbers are checked and repaired, then new breathable membrane, new battens and the new covering go on, with new ridges, verges and lead.
Our own photos show the method on homes across the Midlands: bungalows opened to new trusses and membrane, semis re-battened and re-tiled, and town houses re-slated with chimneys rebuilt and new pots. One customer says James did a complete diagnosis and assessment of his roof, explained what needed doing and replaced it with modern materials.
